About Calhoun County
Calhoun County is located in the Midlands region of South
Carolina. It is uniquely positioned halfway between New York and
Miami, within 24-hour ground access to more than 70% of the U.S.
market. The total area of the county is 392.36 square miles. The
county seat, which is the Town of St. Matthews, is located
approximately 32 miles from the state’s capital, Columbia. The
elevation of St. Matthew is about 500 feet above sea level.
