Each year, the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce offers Scholarships to graduating seniors.  We will be offering these scholarships again next year, 2011.  Please check back next school year for new updates.  For information purposes, you can read through this past years information so that you can be better prepared for the upcoming year.

2010 Graduating Class

The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce is offering Scholarships to graduating seniors for the year 2010.  These scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Calhoun County High School and Calhoun Academy.

One is solely from the Chamber of Commerce and the second is from the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and The Regional Medical Center.  The second scholarship is for students pursuing a career in the medical field.

Applications are available and can be obtained from the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and from the Chamber website at www.calhouncountychamber.org  The deadline for the scholarship application is February 19,  2010 .   The award is for one year, non-renewable, and is subject to confirmation of acceptance to a college or university.

To be eligible, the applicant must:

1. Be a High School Senior qualifying for graduation at the end of the current regular school session.
2. Have recommendations from a high school teacher, high school principal or guidance counselor, and a citizen of the community, as well as a copy of your high school transcript.
3. Be a resident of Calhoun County or attend school in Calhoun County and be of good moral character and reputation.

The scholarship will be awarded upon the enrollment in the college of the applicant’s choice.
Application materials include:

1. Completed application.
2. Copy of transcript with school seal.
3. Three letters of recommendation (one each from): a high school teacher, high school principal or guidance counselor, and a citizen of the community.  Please enclose letters along with your application packet.

Those recommending you should include such information as service, character, and merit of scholarship.
